Abstract
Disclosed herein are a derivative of tetrahydrobenzothiazole represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a methyl group or ethyl group; R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, methoxy group or O.dbd.=together with R.sup.2 ; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or O.dbd.=together with R.sup.1 ; and X represents a methylene group, hydroxymethylene group, carbonyl group or --O-- with the proviso that R is not a methyl group when (1) R.sup.1 represents a hydroxyl group or methoxy group and X represents a methylene group or hydroxymethylene group or (2) R.sup.2 represents .dbd.O together with R.sup.1 and X represents a carbonyl group, and a herbicidal composition containing the same as an active ingredient.
