Abstract
A catalyst is produced in two stages in that prefabricated carrier bodies are impregnated with solutions which contain vanadium and alkalies. When the impregnated carrier bodies have been dried, the conversion activity of the catalyst is increased further in that the catalyst is activated under oxidizing conditions at a temperature of 700.degree. to 1000.degree. C.
