Abstract

Lubricant compositions adapted for use under extreme pressure, high temperature and high speed conditions comprising a major proportion of an oil or grease base material, having a dropping point above about 300.degree. F., and a minor proportion of an additive system containing as an essential component an inorganic phosphate salt, or mixture thereof, in solid form. Preferred salts are alkaline earth metal ortho- or pyrophosphates exemplified by dicalcium phosphate.
