Abstract

5-hydroxy-6-acylamino-benzoxazole-2-one compounds, such as those responding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein m is 0, 1; R represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl group or a heterocyclic group; R.sub.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group or R.sub.2 --X--, wherein X represents a member selected from the group consisting of CO, SO.sub.2, OCOCO and NHCO and R.sub.2 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; and V and W, the same or different, represent hydrogen, halogen or a lower alkyl or alkoxy group, are described as cyan dye-forming couplers for use in silver halide color photographic elements and processes.
