Abstract

This invention provides a material for contact lenses comprising a polymer having 10 to 100 5 by weight of a structural unit represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R is (CH.sub.2).sub.l R.sup.1 or --CH.sub.2).sub.m (CF.sub.2).sub.n CFZ.sup.1 Z.sup.2 in which R.sup.1 is oxygen-containing fluoroalkyl, Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are the same or different and each hydrogen, fluorine or fluoroalkyl, l is an integer of 1 to 5, m is an integer of 1 to 4 and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 10, 0 to 60% by weight of a structural unit represented by the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is lower alkyl, and 0 to 80% by weight of a structural unit represented by the formula ##STR3## wherein X is hydroxyl or carboxyl and p is an integer of 1 to 5.
