These foam inhibitor mixtures contain (a) from 70 to 98% by weight of a liquid, branched C.sub.16 -C.sub.30 alcohol, (b) from 0.5 to 20% by weight of hard paraffin, and (c) from 0.05 to 5% by weight of hydrophobized finely divided silica, and, optionally, small quantities of other ingredients.
