The piecer includes a suction nozzle to find a broken yarn end from a package, a centering mechanism for positioning the located yarn in a predetermined position and a threading device for forming the located yarn into a loop. A carrier for an auxiliary yarn package is also provided with a roller pair for feeding a yarn from a package and a second suction nozzle for manipulating the auxiliary yarn into a predetermined position extending from the first nozzle for interception by the centering mechanism.
