Abstract

An improved process for preparing bicyclic amide acetals from an organic nitrile and a dialkanol amine wherein the reaction temperature is maintained in the range of from room temperature to 140.degree. C., and the bicyclic amide acetal product is removed from the reaction mixture by extraction into a hydrocarbon or organic nitrile solvent prior to its purification is described.
