Abstract

Powders consisting essentially of zinc but having lead contents of from about 1000 to about 30,000 ppm can readily be produced by electrolysis of lead-containing, zinc halide solutions and are superior reductants for the preparation of symmetrical tetrachloropyridine from pentachloropyridine.
