Abstract

There is disclosed a blood anticoagulant consisting essentially of a sulfonated polyethyleneimine formed by sulfonating 1 mole % or more of the --NH-- and --NH.sub.2 groups present in a polyethyleneimine having a molecular weight of 300 or greater. This blood anticoagulant is suitable for preventing coagulation of blood collected for purpose of hematological examination.
