Abstract
A recording liquid comprises a recording agent, water and a water-soluble organic solvent as essential components, wherein said recording agent comprises at least one of the dyes represented by the formula (A) shown below: ##STR1## (wherein [Ph] represents a phthalocyanine skeleton at the center of which a metal atom may be coordinated, X represents an alkali metal or NH.sub.4, a and b each independently represent an integer of 1 to 3 satisfying the relation of 2.ltoreq.a+b.ltoreq.4, Q represents a group --SO.sub.2 OR.sub.1 or a group --SO.sub.2 NR.sub.2 R.sub.3, where R.sub.1 represents an alkyl or an alicyclic group having not more than 15 carbon atoms which may be branched or an aralkyl group having not more than 15 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each independently represent a group --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n R.sub.4, a group --CH.sub.2 CHOH).sub.n R.sub.4, a group ##STR2## a straight or cyclic alkyl group having not more than 15 carbon atoms which may be branched or an aralkyl group having not more than 15 carbon atoms or an amino acid salt radical, n means an integer of 0 to 12, and R.sub.4 means H, CH.sub.3 or CH.sub.2 OH).
