Abstract

A photographic material is described, comprising a support and at least one silver halide emulsion layer which contains nearly uniform and large size silver halide grains formed in the presence of a novel silver halide solvent represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group, aryl group, or heterocyclic group; R.sup.3 represents an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group, aryl group, --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, a heterocyclic group; and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; and wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 can combine with each other to form a 5- or 6-membered ring.
