Abstract

A polyolefin compatable liquid colorant/additive concentrate for molding plastics. The colorants and additives are conventional pigments and additives. The vehicle contains (A) a low molecular weight addition polymer, such as a polybutene, a polystyrene, a poly alpha-methyl styrene/vinyl toluene copolymer, or an acrylic polymer or copolymer, and (B) an essentially non-volatile solvent for the low molecular weight addition polymer which has a boiling point of at least about 450.degree. F. and which is compatable with the resin to be colored. The liquid concentrate has a Brookfield viscosity between about 1000 and 40,000. The colorant concentrate produces uniform color finished products, without visible streaks or specks. It also eliminates screw slippage.
