Abstract
An ultrasonic diagnostic device capable of the accurate real-time measurement and display of the amount of deviation in the velocity distribution of moving objects within a living organism. This apparatus represents an improvement on the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus of the type wherein an ultrasonic pulse beam is repeatedly transmitted into a living organism at a fixed pulse rate and the reflected echoes are picked up, amplified and displayed, the improvement comprising a complex signal converter for converting a received high frequency signal into complex signals by mixing the received high frequency signal with a pair of complex reference signals which have frequencies that are integer multiples of the pulse rate and which are complexly related to one another, an autocorrelator for determining the autocorrelation of the complex signals, the autocorrelator having a delay time equal to an integer multiple of the pulse period, and a deviation determinator for determining the amount of deviation from the autocorrelation.
