Abstract
Certain peptides containing the glucagon.sub.1-21 peptide chain His-Ser-Gln-Gly-Thr-Phe-Thr-Ser-Asp-Tyr-Ser-Lys-Tyr-Leu-Asp-Ser-Arg-Arg-Al a-Gln-Asp, usable as a medicament or a diagnostic; the peptide exerts a spasmolytic effect and an inhibitory effect on gastric acid secretion similar to glucagon with not more than a negligible metabolic effect. Some of the glucagon fragments are novel compounds.
