Abstract
A process for producing aliphatic alcohols by reacting carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a liquid phase in the presence of catalyst components, characterized in that rhodium and a trialkylphosphine represented by the general formula PR.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 where each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is a primary alkyl group, a secondary alkyl group, a tertiary alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group, are used as the catalyst components.
