Abstract

Oxacycloalkane-alpha-(thio)carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are H or optionally-substituted alkyl; n is 0 or 1; X is O or S and Y is NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 or when X is O then Y is also OH or OR.sup.3 in which R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 is H or an optionally-substituted hydrocarbyl group; and W is an optionally-substituted unsaturated, cycloalkyl, secondary alkyl, aromatic or heterocyclic group, are useful as plant growth regulators, herbicides, intermediates and the like.
