Abstract

The present invention relates to novel compounds, useful as flame retardants for normally flammable organic polymers, which correspond to the formula: ##STR1## wherein each X is independently Br or Cl. The novel compounds may be prepared by the reaction of halogenated neopentyl alcohol with thionyl chloride.
