Abstract

Substituted ethyleneureas are prepared by reacting appropriate .beta.-hydroxyethylureas with alkyl carbonates in the presence of catalysts at an elevated temperature. Substituted ethyleneureas are used, inter alia, as polymerization and copolymerization components for the preparation of plastics, coatings, surface finishes and ion exchangers.
