Abstract

Process for the production of 4',5'-unsaturated nucleosides via a novel compound, 5'-Se-(2- or 4-nitrophenyl)-selenonucleoside, is disclosed, said selenonucleoside being represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, A is 2- or 4-nitrophenyl group and B is a base.
