A method for making a methyl methacrylate polymer having high resistance to ultraviolet radiation and thermal damage by polymerizing methyl methacrylate or a monomer mixture predominantly comprising methyl methacrylate in the presence of a highly sterically hindered amine such as 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine.
