Abstract
A method for preparing 8-acylthio-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydro-2,6-methano-3,6(e),11(a)-trimethyl-3-benz azocines represented by general formula (I) below ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group, a phenyl group or a heterocyclic group, which comprises reacting 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydro-2,6-methano-3,6(e),11(a)-trimethyl-3-benzazocine represented by the formula (II) below ##STR2## or its salt with chlorosulfonic acid, heating the reaction product in the presence of a reducing agent, and reacting the reaction mixture with an acyl halide represented by the general formula (III)
