Abstract
Described is a process for producing 1,1-dimethyl-3-indanones defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or methyl with the proviso that at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 methyl, products produced thereby and organoleptic uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, perfumed articles and colognes.
