Abstract

Process for preparing 4,4'-dibenzoylaminoanthrimidecarbazole, characterized in that 4,4'-diaminodianthrimide is benzoylated and carbazolated, both steps being carried out in one-vessel fashion and the 4,4'-diaminodianthrimide having been obtained by oxidizing a mixture of 1-aminoanthraquinone and 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone in a molar ratio of 0.9:1 to 1.4:1 in 30 to 60% strength H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 and then reducing.
