Abstract
Described is a process for oxidizing 2-chloropyridine or 2-bromopyridine to the corresponding N-oxide with peracetic acid generated in-situ from H.sub.2 O.sub.2 and acetic acid in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of maleic acid, maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, and mixtures thereof.
