Abstract

A sulfur-containing polymer having a repeating unit represented by the formula: ##STR1## where R is a straight or branched alkylene group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R' is a straight or branched alkylene group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms and p is an integer of from 0 to 10, and having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 10,000 and a sulfur content of from 15 to 65% by weight. The sulfur-containing polymer of the present invention is useful as a flame or smoke retarding agent in resin and rubber materials.
