Abstract
A cyclopropanecarboxylic acid of the formula ##STR1## is prepared by the reaction of a compound of the formula ##STR2## with an alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide in an ether type solvent. R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.4 each independently is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon residue, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, X is halogen, and A is --CH.sub.2 --CX, 3 or --CH.dbd.CX.sub.2.
