Abstract

A magnetic tape cassette having adjacent flanged reels mounted for rotation between major walls of a housing. A brake spring has intermediate portions arranged between respective projections on a major wall and the rear wall. A slide member movable on a ridge between the reels engages the spring between its center and each intermediate portion, to move the spring end portions away from or toward the flanges.
