Abstract
A vasodilating or anti-hypertensive composition comprises a pharmaceutical carrier and an effective amount of a 1,4-dihydropyridine compound as an active ingredient. The 1,4-dihydropyridine compound may be represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R'.sub.1 and R'.sub.4 represent a hydrogen atom, R'.sub.2 and R'.sub.3 represent an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms or a substituted heterocyclic group wherein a substituent is an N-benzylpiperidyl group, R'.sub.5 represents a nitro group, and R'.sub.6 and R'.sub.7 represent an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms.
