Abstract
A catalyst for the preparation of phthalic anhydride is disclosed which comprises a carrier having an open arcuate configuration, e.g. in the form of half rings, and an active portion including V.sub.2 O.sub.5 and porous TiO.sub.2 with the pores having mostly a radius in the 500 to 1,500 .ANG. range. Also described is a method of preparing phthalic anhydride which utilizes this catalyst.
