Abstract

Compounds of the general formula ##STR1## in which a chlorine or bromine atom and A represents a hydrogen or metal atom or an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, are prepared by cyclizing a compound of the general formula ##STR2## in which Hal' represents a chlorine or bromine atom, in the presence of an acid. The resulting compound is a useful intermediate in the synthesis of certain pyrethroid insecticides.
