Abstract

The present invention relates to an automatic focussing apparatus for a television camera using video signal and comprises a variable optical path means, for example, an optical glass and a piezo-electric device disposed in an optical pass, and the automatic focussing apparatus varies minutely an optical path length responding to given frequency and controlls lens position using a given frequency component which is derived from a high frequency component in said video signal in a manner that said high frequency component becomes maximum.
