Abstract

Disazo dyes for dyeing cellulose-containing fibers, particularly fibers having both cellulose and polyester, of the formula ##STR1## Mixed fibers dyed with the dyes of the invention result in surprisingly more uniform color than previously obtainable. In the above formula R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from H, halogen, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl, lower alkyl, and lower alkoxy; R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5, are independently selected from H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkoxy-lower alkoxy, and acylamino; R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are independently selected from H, allyl, aralkyl, and lower alkyl which may be further substituted with halogen, cyano, lower alkoxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl, OH, and acyloxy; and X is selected from amino, mono- or dialkylamino having a total of 1-6 carbon atoms, anilino, lower alkoxy and --O--(R.sup.8 O).sub.n --R.sup.9, wherein R.sup.8 is ethylene or propylene, R.sup.9 is methyl or ethyl, and n is 1-5.
