Abstract

Substituted phenylsulfonylurea-derivatives of the general formula ##STR1## wherein X represents an oxygen atom or a direct bond, Y and Z each represents a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group or a nitro group, R represents a group: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group, m and n each represents 0, 1 or 2 with the proviso that m and n do not represent 0 at the same time, are novel and find use as herbicides. Corresponding substituted benzenesulfonyl isocyanates are novel intermediate compounds for use in preparing compounds of formula (I).
