Abstract
A phamaceutical insertion composition comprising a mixture of an aqueous solution of carboxyvinyl polymer with a water-soluble basic compound and a pharmaceutical ingredient, said mixture being a gel having a pH value of from 4 to 10 and a viscosity of from 5,000 to 100,000 centipoises at 20.degree. C., which composition is applied to the rectal, vaginal or urethral tissue and the pharmaceutical ingredient is absorbed into the blood stream of the human body.
