Abstract

Methanol, dimethyl ether or a mixture thereof is converted to a hydrocarbon product rich in iso-C.sub.4 compounds by contact with a catalyst comprised of crystalline silica having molecular sieve properties or a crystalline solid with molecular sieve properties which has been impregnated with thorium oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide or a combination thereof.
