Abstract
5-Methyl-2-oxazolidinone and 5-methyl-3-(2-hydroxypropyl)-2-oxazolidinone are prepared by contacting urea and propylene carbonate in the presence of an initiator at a temperature from about 120.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C.
