Abstract
A process for producing an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid or esters thereof which comprises bringing an .alpha.-hydroxycarboxylic acid amide into contact with a solid acid catalyst independently or along with water, or along with water and an aliphatic alcohol, or along with an aliphatic alcohol.
