Abstract
An EGR apparatus of a diesel engine having a particulate trapper means for preventing the particulate matter included in the exhaust gas from entering the engine cylinders. The EGR apparatus has two valve means, one disposed in the EGR passage for controlling the flow of the recirculated gas, the other being disposed in the intake passage for throttling the fresh air. When the engine is in an idle condition, one valve is opened and the other valve is closed, thereby improving the performance of the engine in the idle condition.
