Abstract
An improved process for the preparation of 1-N-�.omega.-amino-.alpha.-hydroxyalkanoyl!kanamycins comprises acylating a polysilylated kanamycin in a substantially anhydrous organic solvent with an acylating derivative of an .omega.-amino-.alpha.-hydroxyalkanoic acid.
