Abstract
An organic, high-molecular weight polyester containing substantially chain members of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is at least one member selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## having an inherent viscosity of at least 1.0 dl/g, preferably at least 1.2 dl/g measured at 30.degree. C. in a solution of 0.5 g of the polyester in 100 ml of a mixture of 60% by weight of phenol and 40% by weight of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane and whose films cast from a solution in a chlorinated organic solvent have an elongation at break of more than about 20%, preferably at least 40% measured according to ASTM D 882-75 b having excellent properties for electrical insulation as well as other fields.
