Abstract

There is provided a method for preparing .beta.-phenylethylchlorosilanes comprising forming a mixture of styrene, a chlorosilane having at least one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom, a platinum catalyst and a tertiary amine, and heating the mixture in order to effect addition of the chlorosilane to styrene.
