Abstract
Filaments, films or moldings are prepared from meltable polyesters derived from chloro- or methyl-hydroquinone, terephthalic acid, a member of the group consisting of 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, and 4-carboxy-4'-hydroxybiphenyl and a member of the group consisting of isophthalic acid, resorcinol and 1,3-hydroxybenzoic acid. As-spun filaments from these polymers can be heat treated while free from tension to increase their tenacity.
