Disclosed is a method of imparting water solubility or dispersibility to the reaction product of a polyepoxide and a mercapto-substituted triazole, a mercapto substituted tetrazole or a mixture thereof, by admixture with a base in an amount at least sufficient to water solubilize the azole-functional reaction product. Also disclosed is a method of using the above water solubilized reaction product in an electrodeposition process.
