At one end of the vehicle the passenger compartment has an elevatable stairway having a member which can be lifted strictly vertically to the height of the aircraft door, thereby entraining a corresponding number of steps of the stairway also strictly vertically. The luggage compartment is provided with means, e.g. a conveyor, for moving the luggage through this compartment or into and out of the compartment.
