Abstract

An activation module for multiplex passive displays integrates the output drivers of the module into two groups which, independently of one another, can be connected either to the columns or to the rows of an electrode matrix. The four pulse voltages necessary for this purpose are internally formed. Preferably, the switching unit has driver groups with 10 or 35, respectively, output drivers and can thus activate a 10-position data row with 5.times.7 matrices. The component can be constructed with known elements of CMOS technology. The proposed multiplex driver finds use, above all, in medium-to-high information liquid crystal displays.
