Abstract

Alpha-olefins are polymerized with a catalyst containing (1) TiCl.sub.3 /AlCl.sub.3 and (2) aluminum dialkyl chloride wherein (1) is prepared by milling the TiCl.sub.3 /AlCl.sub.3 with a particular phosphorous compound under special conditions and then treating with a liquid hydrocarbon and an ether and/or ester.
