Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the synthesis of polymers from vinyl chloroformate. The reaction is preferably carried out at between 15.degree. and 40.degree. C., in the presence of 0.01 to 2 mol % of a cycloaliphatic percarbonate, relative to the vinyl chloroformate. The resulting homopolymers and copolymers are useful, in particular, as transparent materials and reactive support polymers which can be used in the pharmaceutical, photographic or foodstuffs industry and also in the manufacture of dyestuffs.
