Abstract
A defoamer comprised of silica having hydrophobic surfaces dispersed in a water insoluble hydrophobic organic liquid, wherein the silica has a surface area of no greater than 0.1 m.sup.2 /g and the hydrophobic silica comprises in excess of 25 wt. percent of the composition.
