Abstract

A results based 'AND' matrix method and means for the diagnostic analysis of an internal combustion engine is described. A diagnostic evaluation of the operating condition of an internal combustion engine is achieved, based solely on AND function relationships with respect to currently measured engine parameter values and a diagnostic equation, without the need for making, collecting and correlating a plurality of separate evaluative judgments regarding engine operating parameters.
